How HeatLore Earns Revenue

HeatLore is an independently operated publication. We earn revenue primarily through affiliate commissions. When you click a link on our site and make a purchase from one of our affiliate partners, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.

This revenue supports the research, testing, and writing that goes into every article on the site. It allows us to purchase products for review, invest time in long-term testing, and keep the site free of paywalls.

What Affiliate Revenue Never Does

Affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial content. Specifically:

  • We never write a positive review because a product has an affiliate program. Our assessment is based on our testing methodology, and the editorial process is completed before affiliate links are added.
  • We never omit criticism of a product because of an affiliate relationship. If a product has flaws, we report them regardless of whether we earn a commission on sales.
  • We never prioritize products with higher commission rates in our recommendations. Product rankings are based on performance, value, and suitability for the reader.
  • We never allow affiliate partners to review or approve our content before publication.

Every article on HeatLore that contains affiliate links includes a clear disclosure at the top of the page, before the main content begins. This disclosure states that the article contains affiliate links and that we may earn a commission from qualifying purchases.

Individual affiliate links within the article are not separately marked, but the top-of-page disclosure covers all links in that article. We believe this approach balances transparency with readability.

As of this writing, HeatLore has not published any sponsored content. If we do in the future, sponsored articles will be:

  • Clearly labeled as “Sponsored” in the title and introduction
  • Written by our editorial team, not by the sponsor
  • Subject to the same editorial standards as all other content
  • Factually accurate, with no obligation to present a positive perspective

We will never publish sponsored content that we would not publish independently. If a sponsor’s product does not meet our standards, we will decline the sponsorship rather than compromise our editorial integrity.

Product Samples

When we receive a product sample for review, we disclose this in the review. We note whether the product was provided free of charge, purchased at a discount, or purchased at full price. We also note whether the product was returned to the manufacturer after testing.

Receiving a product sample does not guarantee a review will be published. If we test a product and find it does not meet the threshold for usefulness to our readers, we may decline to publish a review.
